Q. When do entries open for Motatapu 2014
A.
Entries open at 9am on July 1st 2013- If you do not already have an Iconic profile ,we reccommend being pre -registered on our website before this, this keeps  you upto date with information & news for Motatapu

Q. When can i use the 10 Years of Motatapu promo code to enter?
A.
The promo code that you were given in your finishers pack from Motatapu 2013 is valid from MIDDAY June 25th 2013 to MiDNIGHT June 29th 2013

Q. How do I withdraw my entry?
A.
Login to your profile, click on ‘withdraw entry’ on the left hand menu and follow the instructions.  Please note it may take up to one week for your withdraw and refund (if applicable) to be processed.  You will be sent an email at the completion of the process to confirm the withdraw request and refund (if applicable).

Q. What is the refund policy?
A. Below is a copy of the event’s refund policy; 

MOUNTAIN BIKE REFUND POLICY

Withdrawal requests submitted before 5pm, 1 Dec 2012 will receive a 75% refund of the entry fee paid.  Withdrawal requests can be submitted via your Iconic profile under the Entry Management tab.  Refunds will be processed back onto the credit card used to pay for the entry.  Entrants can transfer their entry to another person if they wish before 5pm, 13 Feb 2013.

Withdrawal requests submitted after 5pm, 1 Dec 2012 will receive no refund.  We highly recommend you transfer your entry to someone else before 5pm, 13 Feb 2013.

Withdrawal requests submitted after 5pm, 13 Feb 2013 will receive no refund and no transfers are available.  Entrants are eligible to receive the Iconic Adventures magazine (if not yet received) and event drink bottle.  The drink bottle can be collected from the organisers office after the event or posted to the competitor if a suitable size pre-paid postage bag is supplied.

There are no rolled over entries to the folllowing year’s event.

March 10, 2013 - No refunds available should the reserve day be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or other circumstances. There are no roll over entries to the following years event.

Q. Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
A. Yes, as long as the transfer is completed by 5pm, 13 February 2013. Click here for full transfer details and instructions for submitting a transfer request.

 

Q. Are there cut off times for the event?
A.
Yes, each event has a specific cut off time;

Mountain Bike - cut off time of 3pm at Aid Station 2 (approx 23km to go)

Marathon – cut off time of 12pm at Aid Station 2 (approx 23km to go)

Miners Trail - cut off time of 12pm at the Aid Station (approx 8km to go)

Triathlon – swim cut off at 11:05am and cut off at Transition 2 of 3:15pm

Multisport – kayak cut off of 10:30am and cut off at Transition 2 of 2:45pm

 

Q. Where and when can I get my Gear and Bike (if applicable) check completed?
A.
Bike & Gear checks operate from 9am Thursday 14th February until 5pm Friday 8th March. Click here for a list of approved retailers that are able to complete the checks.  If you cannot complete your gear and bike check in the 3 weeks leading up to the event, please contact us in making other arrangements.

 

Q. Do you have a training plan available?
A. If you log into your Iconic profile we have some training tips and advice, located on the left hand menu bar – ‘Training Tips’.  These are just general tips and advice and given everybody has differing fitness levels, abilities and goals we strongly recommend you consider a personalised training schedule and we recommend contacting a local gym, biking, triathlon and/or running club to get further advice on personlaised plans or feel free to contact the people who provided the tips for Motatapu, their contact details are provided on the information under Training Tips once you login to your profile.

 

Q. I am under the accepted entry age requirement, but would like to take part, is this possible?
A. We treat all under age requests on a case-by-case basis, we look at your ability, coaching & racing history.  The final decision is made at the Race Directors discretion.  Please contact us to request be considered for a under age entry.

 

Q. What time do I need to qualify for the Elite Mountain Bike category?

Q. I would like to race with a friend that has entered earlier than me in the Mountain Bike and we would like to be in the same wave, could we be changed to the same wave?
A.
It’s a great idea to enter together or around the same time to prevent this from happening, however if you do find yourself in a different wave from your friends please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.If the request is submitted before 5pm , on 13th February 2013

 

Q. Can my local bike store become an official bike check retailer?
A. Yes, please ask your local bike store to apply to become a Motatapu Bike Check Retailer through this link - http://www.iconicadventures.co.nz/motatapu-home/motatapu-mountain-bike/preparing/bike-gearchecks/ (application link is at the bottom of the page).  Please note this is only an application for bike checks only, not gear.

 

Q. I no longer require the transport I’ve booked, how do I cancel this?
A.
Please contact us and tell us know what transport option you need to cancel.  The transport cancellation policy is: Cancellations 15 days or more before the event: 80% refund.  Cancellations 14 days or less before the event: No refund.

 

Q. Can I hire a kayak from the organisers for the Multisport event?
A.
No, we do not have kayaks for hire but suggest you contact Steve Norton steve@aroundthebasin.co.nz

 

Q. I would like to change my surname and/or date of birth through my profile but have been unable to do so through logging into my profile, how do I change these details?
A.
You can change your postal address, email address or emergency contact details through logging on to your Iconic profile. But for your surname and DOB you'll need to contact us and request the details be updated

Q. For the mountain bike I've see there are different categories based on your age; as I am entering with people of different ages, do all the different age groups in the sport class start the race together?
A. The Sport category is broken down into age groups for placegetter prizes, but are allocated starting waves based on the time you enter.  If you enter around the same time as your friends you should get allocated the same wave (you’ll be able to see what wave you have been allocated on your confirmation email and when you login to view your profile).

 

Q. I missed out on entering the mountain bike, can I get a late entry?
A.
The 2013 mountain bike event and the wait list has now been closed, At this stage the only way to get an entry is if you know someone that is withdrawing from the mountain bike and they transfer their entry to you.

We are recommending that if people are looking at withdrawing from the Mountain Bike that they post a message on the Motatapu Facebook page www.facebook.com/motatapu.event or on the Motatapu Sportzhub discussion board http://sportzhub.com/newsgroups/index.php?board=34.0 , you can then contact these people to purchase their entry.  You could also post a message on these sites to say you are looking for an entry.

 

Q. Its past the withdraw date (13th feb 5pm) can i still withdraw?

NO ,As our race entry database has been processed for the Motatapu 2013 we are no longer able to withdraw people's names from the race start list, therefore competitors who have informed us they will not be attending the event may still receive race related information via email. Competitors that do not take part on race day will be recorded as DNS (Did Not Start).if you email us at contact us , that you will not be competing but have a current entry we will automatically place you on the DNS list
