Course Description
- Start: Head along Motatapu Station Road on the no-exit, public gravel road
- 4 km: Small river crossing with option of fiord or bridge without sides - proceed with caution! If you are closely bunched, the fiord/bridge may be hard to see from behind other riders
- 7 km: Gravel road ends. Continue on well-maintained dirt farm trail through privately owned Motatapu Station past the homestead and up the Motatapu Valley
- 15 km: Aid Station One - Self Service Water Station, Powerade, Toilets, Radio for Emergency
- 16-22 km: Course climbs gradually over undulating terrain. Several stream crossings
- 23 km: Aid Station Two - Self Service Water Station, Powerade, Toilets nearby, Radio for Emergency
- 24-31 km: Course continues to climb through magnificent high country valleys
- 32 km: Aid Station Three - Self Service Water Station, Powerade, Didymo Wash, Radio for Emergency
- 34 km: Highest point on the course of 877m reached
- 35-38 km: Gentle descent through the Soho and Glencoe Stations
- 39-40 km: Steep, fast descent down the Soho Creek – proceed with caution!
- 41 km: Aid Station Four - Self Service Water Station, Powerade, Cookies, Radio for Emergency
- 41-42 km: Merge with Macetown Road and Adventure Runners. This road has steep drop offs - proceed with caution!
- 45-47 km: Multiple river and stream crossings; if inexperienced you may feel more comfortable walking your bike
- 46-47 km: Finish at Butler’s Green, Arrowtown. Finish line chutes steer riders RIGHT - slow down as you enter the tent and beware crowds of bikers. Smile - you're done!
